Judy Savoy -Bio
Judy Savoy was born and raised in Campbellton, N.B. of French and Irish stock,
which explains why she talks a lot and with her hands.
She has lived and worked in Toronto, Montreal, London, Vancouver, Calgary and Halifax, occasionally picking up a paycheque. She has just moved back to the Maritimes where she resides in Halifax.
Judy trained as an actor at the Ryerson Theatre School in Toronto, worked for a few local theatres and a toured Ontario. In one year she collected 10 T-4 slips doing temporary, part- time day jobs to pay the rent and feed her sugar addiction. One day she figured out that television might provide an income and still not require actually “working” for a living.
Judy has worked as a weather broadcaster, host/interviewer, story editor, relief anchor, rock radio D.J., and arts and entertainment reporter.
Judy was CBC Television’s Weatherlady on the supper hour news, in Halifax. She made history by becoming the first person to appear on camera…..pregnant. GASP!
Judy also appeared on the Neptune Stage in a number of roles, receiving rave reviews for her performance as Dorine in Richard Ouzounian’s TARTUFFE.
n 1998 Judy wrote, produced and premiered her one woman comedy GET ME BACK TO THE GARDEN, I'M CHOKIN ON THE WEEDS, and since then, has been performing it in churches, theatres and halls, from Newfoundland to California. She is also a conference speaker, singer and drama workshop leader.
